On 4 February 2026, the first meeting of the EU CAP Network Thematic Group (TG) on Farm Diversification  took place in Brussels. On behalf of MaYA, I was among the participants contributing to the discussions on how European farms can strengthen their resilience and sustainability through diversification. In October 2025 I travelled to Copenhagen on behalf of the Malta Youth in Agriculture Foundation to attend the Plant Food Summit . The event was held on 20 and 21 October and organised by the Danish Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries during Denmark’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. Jeanette Borg, President of MaYA, has been featured in an article of Business Now  this week to discuss the EU’s latest Young Farmers proposal. In her commentary, Jeanette emphasises that Malta must address its long-standing internal challenges before it can fully benefit from new EU measures. As she notes: “we cannot talk about installing new young farmers when the foundation is this unstable ”.  Indeed, the article highlights well-known key obstacles that young Maltese farm
