Getting back to the “rural” should not be a heroic act, but a livelihood opportunity. This was the key message emerging from the European Rural Youth Forward Conference held in Piloña, Asturias, from 24 February to 1 March 2026. Bringing together rural youth leaders, agricultural organisations, and policy-makers, the event highlighted the urgent need for more inclusive, participatory, and practical responses to the challenges facing rural communities across Europe.
