Last week, the MaYA Foundation hosted a stand at the 2026 AgriFair taking place at the MFCC. Over the course of three intense and fruitful days, we had the pleasure of meeting many of you face-to-face. It was encouraging to witness the enthusiasm, curiosity, and hope surrounding the future of agriculture in Malta, while also hearing genuine concerns and reflections on the realities faced by our rural communities. Indeed, the event created space for meaningful conversations, new connections, and the exchange of ideas, which we hope to continue building upon in the months ahead.

Visitors at the stand

On Friday afternoon, we had the pleasure of welcoming ACT., the NGO aiming to support individuals and communities through learning and meaningful engagement with green spaces and revegetalisation. Meanwhile, Saturday morning featured the GreenFit Open Day, an opportunity not only to present the GreenFit project and answer questions, but also to foster potential collaborations with local stakeholders and members of the agricultural community.
Beyond our stand, the three days also gave us the chance to explore the incredible diversity of exhibitors, organisations, and initiatives present. AgriFair is not only about welcoming visitors, but also about finally gathering many of the people and organisations working within the sector that we often hear about, collaborate with remotely, or follow from afar.

The event itself was vibrant and full of life, bringing together farmers, breeders, food enthusiasts, policy makers and passionate exhibitors under one roof. We thrive on seeing local producers, organisations, innovators, and citizens reunited in the same space. Reaching the third edition of our participation in AgriFair reminds us why we continue this work with the same ambition each year: to give a stronger voice to Maltese farmers, rural stakeholders, and young people interested in shaping the future of agriculture in Malta.
One thing is sure, Malta is small, but it is filled with ideas, positive initiatives, and people who deeply care about their land, culture, and rural future.
